Specimen Required: | Collect: Red Top Tube – 0.5 ml seerum. Specimen Preparation: Serum free from hemolysis is the recommended specimens. Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer serum from the Red top tube to a Standard Transport Tube. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Unacceptable Conditions: Gray (sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate), Green (sodium or lithium heparin). lavender (EDTA), Lt. blue (sodium citrate), or Separator tubes. Grossly hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens.
