Specimen Required:Patient Preparation Requirements: None.

Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST).
Specimen Preparation: All human Serum Samples are considered to be potentially infective and are to be treated as such. Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Allow the specimen to clot and separate from the red cells as soon as possible.
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. 
Stability: After separation from cells: Refrigerated: 1 week, Frozen: 2 weeks
Unacceptable Conditions: Specimen collected in the incorrect tubes
• Specimen received with mismatched or no patient identifiers.
• Specimen received outside of stability requirements
• Grossly hemolyzed or lipemic samples, as well as samples containing particulate matter or exhibiting obvious microbial contamination should not be tested.
