Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Patient should fast at least one hour before collection of baseline breath sample. Collect: PyloPlus® UBT Collection Bags (Pink & Blue). Specimen Preparation: Refer to the current Patient Services Collection of Urea Breath tests for Helicobacter Pylori detection using PyloPlus® UBT collection devices • Collect the BASELINE breath sample using the BLUE breath collection bag. Replace the cap firmly on the mouthpiece of the bag. • Collect the POST–SAMPLE breath sample using the PINK breath collection bag fifteen (15) minutes after drinking the 13C-ureasolution. Replace the cap firmly on the mouthpiece of the bag. Special Collection Procedures: • Advise the patient NOT to ‘rinse’ the inside of his/her mouth with the 13C-urea solution before swallowing. • If the patient has not held their breath for 10-seconds or does not fill the bag completely, there is a possibility of a test result will not be obtainable. • Not fully closing the bag may cause the breath sample to slowly leak out. • If patient fails to fill the bag completely, air can be expelled, and the patient can try again. Other: Insufficient data are available on pregnant and lactating women. Storage/Transport Temperature: Room Temperature (15°C-25 °C) • Place both breath bags into the plastic Ziploc bag provided in the kit. Stability : Room Temperature: 7 days; Refrigerated/Frozen: Not acceptable Unacceptable Specimens Criteria: • Insufficient breath for analysis • Single collection bags • Specimens from patients<3 years old • Specimens not submitted in PyloPlus® UBT Collection bags. • Uncapped bags Other Considerations: Protect bags from direct sunlight.
