Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Non-fasting accepted. Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) – 1 ml serum Specimen Preparation: Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Allow blood samples to clot (15 mins). Separate the serum from the cells by centrifuging for 10 minutes. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: Refrigerated at 2 to 8°C: 8-12 hours; Frozen at -20°C or colder: 1 month. At ACCU: Refrigerated: 8-12 hours; Frozen: 2 weeks. Remark: Do not thaw samples more than once. Specimen Rejection Criteria: Specimens collected in the incorrect tubes. • Specimens received with mismatched or no patient identifiers. •Specimen received outside of stability requirements. • Grossly Hemolyzed or Lipemic samples.
