| Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Patients should avoid nutritional supplements, vitamins, minerals, and nonessential over-the-counter medications for one week before sample collection to prevent false positives. Collect: Royal Blue Trace Metal – 0.5 ml plasma . Specimen preparation: Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Separate plasma from red blood cells as soon as possible, or within 24 hours of collection. Transfer 2 mL of plasma (minimum 0.5 mL) to a trace element-free transport tube. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated Stability: After separation from cells: Refrigerated at 2-8°C : 7 days Criteria for rejection: -Whole blood or serum is submitted instead of properly separated plasma. -Clotted specimens are received. -Hemolyzed specimens are present NOTE: * This test is approved for all states. * Performing Laboratory Accu Reference Medical Laboratory |
