Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Patient should fast for 12 hours. Collect: Lithium heparin or Sodium heparin (green-top) plasma OR Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Red-top serum – 0.5 ml plasma or serum. Protect from light during storage and shipment. Specimen Preparation: Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate personalprotective equipment (PPE). Separate serum or plasma from cells. Transfer plasma/serum specimen to labeled amber plastic transport tube. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated/Frozen: 7 days Causes for Rejection: Receipt of hemolyzed specimen; a specimen not protected from light; a specimen outside of stability; Whole blood; Note: * This test is approved for ALL States.* Performing Laboratory Accu Reference Medical Laboratory |
