Specimen Required: | Collect: Random Urine in a Sterile Container. Specimen Preparation: Transport 10 mL aliquot from a well-mixed random urine. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Unacceptable Conditions: Grey (boric acid). Frozen specimens. Stability: Refrigerated: 48 hours; Frozen: Unacceptable Test Includes: Color, clarity, specific gravity, pH, protein, glucose, blood, ketones, leukocyte esterase, nitrite, bilirubin, urobilinogen, and microscopic examination of urine sediment Causes for Rejection: Quantity not sufficient for analysis; tubes with boric acid or tartaric acid.
