Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: None required. Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) – 0.5 ml serum Specimen Preparation: Serum free from hemolysis is the recommended specimens. Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Allow blood samples to clot (15 mins). Separate the serum from the cells by centrifuging for 10 minutes. Store serum at 2-8°C until analysis. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: Store samples tightly stoppered at Room temperature (15 to 30°C) OR Refrigerate at 2 to 8°C – 7 days. If the assay will not be completed within seven days, freeze at -20°C or colder. Frozen specimens can be stored up to 30 days before testing. Thaw samples only once. Rejection Criteria: 1. Any sample that is mislabeled, mismatched or no patient identifiers 2. Any sample without a test request 3. Any broken or damaged tubes 4. Specimens collected in the incorrect tubes. 5. Specimen received outside of stability requirements.
