Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Timing of specimen collection: Pre-dose (trough) draw – At steady state concentration. Collect: Plain red. Also acceptable: Lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), or green (sodium or lithium heparin)- 0.5 ml serum or plasma. Specimen Preparation: Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer serum or plasma to a Standard Transport Tube. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: After separation from cells: Room Temperature : 6 days; Refrigerated: 1 week, Frozen : 1 month. Rejection Criteria: Serum or plasma separator tubes. Grossly hemolyzed specimens.
