Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Non-fasting accepted Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) – 0.5 ml Specimen Preparation: Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Allow blood samples to clot (15 mins). Separate the serum from the cells ASAP by centrifuging for 10 minutes. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: Refrigerated: 7 days at 2-8°C, Frozen: 6 months at 20°C. At Accu Reference: Refrigerated -7 days: Frozen- 2 weeks Specimen Rejection Criteria: •Specimens collected in the incorrect tubes. •Specimens received with mismatched or no patient identifiers. •Specimen received outside of stability requirements. •Grossly Hemolyzed or Lipemic samples. REMARK: This assay is susceptible to interference from high levels of biotin. Patients receiving biotin supplements should discontinue use prior to sample draws to minimize the risk of interference.
