Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: None required Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Red Top Tube – 0.5 ml serum. Specimen Preparation: Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: After separation of cells: Refrigerated: 5 days; Frozen: 1 month (avoid repeating freeze and thawing). At ACCU: refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 2 weeks. Rejection Criteria: Any sample that is mislabeled; Any broken or damaged tubes; Frozen serum which has not been separated from the clot.
