Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Diet, medication, and supplements will introduce false positive results to this test. Patient should be notified to discontinue the supplements that contains Cu for one week prior to sample draw. Collect: Royal Blue Trace Metal K2EDTA OR Serum Trace Metal Royal Blue (NO ADDITIVE) – 0.5 ml Specimen preparation: Send the sample to the laboratory in a Styrofoambox that is filled with ice, stabilizing samples at 2-8°C for 24 hours. In 24 hours plasma/serum Must be separated from cells and transferred to a metal-free plastic transport tube. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated Stability: After separation from cells: Refrigerated at 2-8°C : 7 days Criteria for rejection: Specimens other than serum/plasma, specimens that are not separated from red cells, or specimens that are clotted.
