Methodology: | EliA™ assay |
Performed: | Sun-Sat |
Reported: | 1-2 days |
Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Fasting not required Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Red Top Tube – 0.5 ml serum. Specimen Preparation: Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Allow blood to clot completely at room temperature (20-26°C) for 30-60 minutes, centrifuge for 10 to 15 min. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigearated. Stability: After separation from cells: Room temperature: 8 hours; Refrigerated 2-8 °C : 1 week; Frozen below -20°C : 2 weeks. Caution: Serum samples are not to be repeatedly frozen and thawed, since this can cause analyte deterioration. They are to be thawed only once. Frost-free freezers are not suitable for storage. Freeze/thaw cycles allow the temperature of the sample to in crease and then drop, allowing the sample to refreeze. Rejection Criteria: •Specimen collected in the incorrect tubes; •Specimen received with mismatched or no patient identifiers; •Specimen received outside of stability requirements; •Lipemic, hemolyzed or microbially contaminated samples may give poor results and should not be used.
