Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: None required. Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) – 0.5 ml Specimen preparation: All human Serum Samples are considered to be potentially infective and are to be treated as such. Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Serum free from hemolysis is the recommended specimens. Allow blood samples to clot (15 mins). Separate the serum from the cells by centrifuging for 10 minutes. Store serum at 2-8°C until analysis. Storage/Transport: Refrigerated Stability: Rheumatoid Factor is stable in serum for 1 day stored at 20-25°C, 8 days stored at 2 – 8°C, and 3 months stored at <-20°C. At Accu Reference: Refrigerated -7 days: Frozen- 2 weeks Rejection Criteria: 1. Mislabeled sample; 2. Sample without a test request; 3. Broken or damaged tubes.
