Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: None required. Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST). Specimen Preparation: Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Allow blood samples to clot (15 mins). Separate the serum from the cells by centrifuging for 10 minutes at 3,400 rpm. Store serum at 2-8° C until analysis. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability : After separation from cells: Refrigerated (2-8° C): 1 week; Frozen (-20° C or below): 14 days Causes for Rejection: 1. Any sample that is mislabeled 2. Any sample without a test request 3. Any broken or damaged tubes 4. Turbid or Hemolyzed samples are not accepted for this test.
