Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation Requirements: None fasting Collect: Red-top tube OR Gel-barrier tube Serum Separator SST Tube – 0.5 ml serum. Specimen Preparation: Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Allow blood samples to clot (15 mins). Separate the serum from the cells by centrifuging for 10 minutes. For Red Top Tube Transfer platelet-poor serum to a Standard Transport Tube. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: Room Temperature : 5 days at 20-25°C ; Refrigerated: 14 days at 2-8 °C; Frozen: 6 months at -20 °C (± 5 °C). Freeze only once. At ACCU: Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 2 weeks. Unacceptable Conditions: •Specimen collected in the incorrect tube. •Specimen received with mismatch or no patient identifier. •Specimen received outside stability requirements. •Grossly Hemolyzed or Lipemic samples.
