Specimen Required:Patient Preparation Requirements:  Non fasting specimen. 
Collect: Serum collected in (SST or RED tube) OR plasma collected in an EDTA (lavender-top) tube – 0.5 ml. 
Specimen Preparation: Separate plasma or serum as soon after collection as possible. Keep refrigerated (cold packs) after separation.
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.
Stability: After separation from cells: Room temperature: 3 days; Refrigerated: 6 days; Frozen: 1 monthAt Accu Frozen : 2 weeks
Reject Criteria: Specimen collected in the incorrect tubes; Specimen received with mismatched or no patient identifiers; Specimen received outside ofstability requirements; Lipemic, hemolyzed or microbially contaminated samples may give poor results and should not be used.
