Specimen Required:Collect: Random or 24-hour urine. Refrigerate during collection – 1 ml urine.
Specimen Preparation: Mix well and adjust pH to 8-9 by adding 10% Na2CO3 (Myoglobin is unstable in urine, unless the pH is 8.0-9.0) immediately after collection. Transfer  aliquot from a random or 24-hour collection to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. 
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.
Stability: (collection to initiation of testing): pH 8-9: Ambient: 1 hour; Refrigerated: 72 hours; Frozen: 1 month
