Specimen Required:Collect:  Lavender (EDTA) – 1.0 ml whole blood. 

Specimen Preparation: Collect all blood samples using acceptable phlebotomy techniques. Send original tube to the Laboratory. 

Storage/Transport Temperature: CRITICAL ROOM TEMPERATURE. 
Stability: Ambient: 72 hours; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: Unacceptable

Unacceptable Conditions: Frozen or hemolyzed specimens; Specimen collected in tubes other than LAV; Specimen beyond 72 hours from collection time.

Remarks: Specimens must be analyzed within stability times provided. Some medication may affect immunophenotyping results and should be provided on the patient test request form.IF ADDITIONAL TESTS THAT REQUIRE LAVENDER (EDTA) TUBE ARE ORDERED (FOR EXAMPLE CBC, HbA1C, HIV VIRAL LOAD) AN ADDITIONAL LAVENDER TUBE NEEDS TO BE SUBMITTED.

Comment: WBC needs to be ordered – Test code 400.
