Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation Requirements: Non-fasting. Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Red Top Tube – 0.5 ml serum. Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: After separation of cells: Room Temperature: 5 days; Refrigerated: 14 days, Frozen 6 months. Freeze only once. At ACCU: Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 2 weeks Specimen Rejection Criteria: • Specimen collected in the incorrect tube. • Specimen received with mismatch or no patient identifier. • Specimen received outside stability requirements. • Grossly Hemolyzed or Lipemic samples.
