Levetiracetam/Keppra
1222
Methodology: | Immunoassay |
Performed: | Sun-Sat |
Reported: | 1-2 days |
Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation Requirements: Due to structural similarities, brivaracetam (Briviact®) crossreacts substantially in the ARK Levetiracetam Assay. Measurements of levetiracetam should not be made with the ARK assay when both drugs are present in circulation. Collect: Serum from a Red Top tube – 0.5 ml Specimen Preparation: Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP, since hydrolysis of levetiracetam may occur in the prolonged presence of whole blood. Transfer serum or plasma to a Standard Transport Tube. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerate. Stability: Refrigerated 7 days at 2 to 8°C.; If testing will be delayed more than one week, specimens should be stored Frozen(≤-10°C) up to four weeks prior to being tested. Freeze-thawcycles no more than 2 times. Specimen Rejection Criteria: Serum collected in SST tubes or containing additives; Specimen received withmismatched or no patientidentifiers; Specimen received outside of stability requirements.
