Specimen Required: | Collect: Anogenital Lesion Swab (Aptima Orange Swab). Note: Specimen MUST BE IDENTIFIED with the source and the actual word “LESION”. Only for Vaginal/Penile/Anal Lesions . Specimen Preparation: Standard procedures for collecting sample. When transporting biological specimens, ensure that all applicable regulations for the transport of etiologic agents are met. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: Refrigerated: 7 days Specimen Rejection: Mislabeled (Unlabeled specimen or name discrepancy between specimen and request label), Samples that do not have the proper source type written on the swab. If sample received with multiple tests orders. REMARK: There must be a single Orange Aptima swab for HSV 0917. If multiple tests are received and only 1 orange apt tube is received, HSV test 0917 will not be ordered.
