Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation Requirements: Non fasting Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Red Top Tube – 0.5 ml serum. Specimen Preparation: For serum, collect whole blood by venipuncture and allow clotting. Centrifuge and separate serum as soon as possible after collection. Red Top Tube: Transfer the serum into a standard transfer tube. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: After separation from cells: Room Temperature: 5 days; Refrigerated: 1 week, Frozen: 14 days Specimen Rejection Criteria: •Specimen collected in the incorrect tubes. • Specimen received with mismatched or no patient identifiers. • Specimen received outside of stability requirements. • Grossly Hemolyzed or Lipemic samples.
