Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Patient should fast for at least eight hours prior to collection of specimens. Collect: Gray (sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate) Specimen Preparation: 1st draw: fasting basis; administer a 50 or 75 gram glucose load immediately after the 1st draw; 2nd draw – 1 hour after the administration of glucose; 3rd draw – 1 hours after the 2nd draw; Specimen Preparation Recommendations: Separate plasma from cells and refrigerate within 2 hours of collection. Total – 3 gray tubes Label each tube with the patient’s name and time interval Storage/Transport Temperature: Room Temperature.
