Specimen Required: | Collect: Lavender (LAV(EDTA)) – 1 ml Whole Blood Specimen Preparation: Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated NOTE: G6PD activity is reported in terms of grams hemoglobin. Hemoglobin testing must be performed for G6PD test requests. Hemoglobin concentration is required to calculate results. Stability: 72 hours of collection refrigerated (2-8°C) for hemoglobin concentration. Specimen Rejection Criteria: •Specimen collected in the incorrect tubes •Specimen received with mismatched or no patient identifiers. •Specimen received outside of stability requirements •Frozen sample.
