Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Patient fast for 12 hours prior to collection is recommended. Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) – 0.5 ml serum. Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Causes for Rejection: Plasma, Tissue or Urine. Grossly hemolyzed or lipemic specimens.
