Methodology: | Electromagnetic Mechanical Clot Detection |
Performed: | Sun-Sat |
Reported: | 1 day |
Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: None required. Collect: Sodium citrate 3.2% (Light Blue-top) tube – 0.5 ml plasma Specimen Preparation: Draw blood into a light blue top tube containing 3.2% trisodium citrate. Fill to the proper level, indicated by a fill line on the tube. Tubes must be at least 90 % full. Gently invert six times to mix. Centrifuge the citrated blue-top tubes as soon as possible (within 60 minutes) at adequate time and speed to obtain platelet-poor plasma. Using a plastic pipette, remove 0.5 ml mL of plasma and transfer to a plastic aliquot tube and label with patient’s name and a second patient identifier (e.g., date of birth, medical record number). Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. NOTE: Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. Unacceptable Conditions: Serum. EDTA plasma, or hemolyzed specimens. Stability: Unopened light blue-top tube: Room temperature: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 48 hours; Frozen: Unacceptable Separated-platelet poor plasma: Room temperature: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 48 hours; Frozen: 14 days Reject Criteria: – Underfilled tubes (< 90 % full) – Incorrect anticoagulant or anticoagulant ratio (e.g.,>3.2% trisodium citrate or EDTA,etc.) – Clotted specimens – Specimen received with mismatched or no patient identifiers – Specimen received outside of stability requirements NOTE: * This test is approved for all states. * Performing LabAccu Reference Medical Laboratory |
