Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation Requirements: Non-required. Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Red Top Tube – 0.5 ml serum. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Specimen Preparation: Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Stability: Room Temperature 24 hours at 20-25 °C; Refrigerated: 5 days at 2-8 °C; Frozen: 6 months at -20 °C (± 5 °C). At ACCU: Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 2 weeks. Note: Freeze only once. Specimen Rejection Criteria: • Specimen collected in the incorrect tube. • Specimen received with mismatch or no patient identifier. • Specimen received outside stability requirements. • Grossly Hemolyzed or Lipemic samples. Unacceptable Conditions: Hemolysis, Lipemia, Room Temperature (Ambient) specimens received Remarks: FDA Approved.
