Specimen Required: | Collect: Red Top Tube – 0.5 ml. Specimen Preparation: Collect blood in Red Top Tube, noting the time of collection, just before the next dose or, in any case, no less than six hours after the administration of this cardioglycoside, to avoid misleadingly high digoxin results. Allow blood samples to clot (15 mins). Separate the serum from the cells by centrifuging for 10 minutes. Store serum at 2-8°C until analysis. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: 7 days at 28°C, or 6 months at 20°C.
