Diagnostics Of Tick-Borne Diseases
Tick-borne Disease diagnostic solutions offered by ACCU Reference include both Molecular PCR and Serology.
These tests identify the actual organism(s) responsible for the infection and symptoms, which allows providers to quickly order the appropriate treatment. This also eliminates the need for tick to be sent for identification.
MOLECULAR PANELS
Molecular panels should be ordered within 2 weeks after the tick bite or patient exposure and before the starting of the antibiotic therapy.

CLINICAL GUIDE FOR TEST ORDERING
TICK-BORNE DISEASES (TBD)
Tick-Borne Diseases (TBD) occur nationwide in the US and the range of geographic exposure continues to expand. The Northeast, upper Midwest, and Northwest are known as areas with a lot of Lyme Disease, but ticks carrying Lyme and other diseases can be found in many regions of the USA.
Lyme Disease is by far the most common tick-borne disease:
The CDC records some 36,000 cases each year, but not all cases are reported, and the agency has estimated that as many as half a million Americans are diagnosed with this disease annually. But ticks carry a host of other tickborne diseases that, while less common, are also on the rise and have more limited diagnostic and treatment options. In response to the increasing number of incidents with tick-borne pathogens it is important to have a reliable diagnostic solution to diagnose patients who present with TBD symptoms.
The most common symptoms of tick-related illnesses include:
FEVER/CHILLS
All tick-borne diseases can cause fever.
ACHES AND PAINS
Tick-borne diseases can cause headache, fatigue, and muscle aches. People with Lyme Disease may also have joint pain.
RASH
Lyme Disease, Southern Tick-Associated Rash Illness (STARI), Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF), Ehrlichiosis, and Tularemia can cause distinctive rashes.
