Specimen Required: | Collect: Stool in Para-Pak C&S Stool Container – 1-2 grams. Remark: Stool specimens are processed for the recovery of Salmonella, Shigella and Campylobacter. Plesiomonas shigelloides, Aeromonas hydrophila, and Vibriospecies are reported if recovered. ParaPak C&S orange-capped vial: 1. Carefully uncap the vial. 2. Using the plastic spoon attached to the cap, transfer enough stool to bring the liquid level up to the red arrow on the label marked “ADD SPECIMEN TO THIS LINE”. 3. Recap the vial tightly and shake well. 4. Write the patient name and date and time of collection on the label. Storage/Transport Temperature: Room Temperature Stability: Room Temperature: 72 hours Rejection Criteria: Stool in sterile container ( acceptable for Campy AntigenTest only ); Stool in formalin; Stool in Polyvinylalcohol (PVA); Frozen specimen.
