Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: None required. Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) – 0.5 ml Specimen preparation: Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Serum free from hemolysis is the recommended specimens. Allow blood samples to clot (15 mins). Separate the serum from the cells by centrifuging for 10 minutes. Store serum at 2-8°C until analysis. Storage/Transport: Refrigerated Stability: Protect samples from light for maximum stability. CK is stable in serum for up to 4 hours at room temperature (18 – 25°C), 8 – 12 hours refrigerated (2 – 8°C) or up to 1 month at <-20°C. At Accu Reference: Refrigerated – 8-12 hrs: Frozen- 2 weeks Rejection Criteria: Mislabeled sample, the sample without a test request, broken or damaged tubes.
