Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Fasting preferred. Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) – 2 tubes AND Lavender (EDTA) – 1 tube. Specimen Preparation: Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Allow blood in SST tube to clot completely at room temperature (20-26°C) for 30-60 minutes, centrifuge for 10 to 15 min. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigearated. Stability: After separation of cells: SST Tube: Refrigerated: 1 week, Frozen 2 weeks. LAV Tube (whole blood): Refrigerated: 1 week for test code 119; Refrigerated: 48 Hrs for test code #20 Rejection Criteria: Specimens collected in the incorrect tubes. Specimens received with mismatched or no patient identifiers. Specimen received outside of stability requirements. Grossly Hemolyzed or Lipemic samples.
