Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Fasting specimen preferred. Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST), Lavender (K2 EDTA or K3 EDTA), pink (K2 EDTA). A morning specimen is preferred. – 0.5 ml serum. Specimen Preparation: Allow serum separator tube to sit for 15-20 minutes at room temperature for proper clot formation. Centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Storage/Transportation: Refrigerate Stability: After separation of cells: Refrigerated: 14 days; Frozen 2 years At ACCU: Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 2 weeks Rejection Criteria: Hemolyzed specimens.
