BNP, Plasma
0712
Methodology: | Quantitative Chemiluminescent Immunoassay |
Performed: | Sun-Sat |
Reported: | 1-2 days |
Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: None required Collect: Lavender (EDTA) Top Tub – 0.5 ml plasma. Specimen Preparation: Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). • Collect all blood samples observing universal precautions for venipuncture. • Collect blood samples n EDTA collection tubes and mix gently. NOTE: Plastic blood collection tubes are recommended for sample collection, as BNP is unstable in glass containers. Use of glass tubes and transfer pipettes affects accurate quantitation of BNP .• Ensure that samples are free offibrin orother particulate matter and hat samples are free of bubbles. Separate the Plasma from the cells by centrifuging for 10 minutes. Store plasma at 2-8°C until analysis. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: After centrifugation, store separated plasma samples at2° to 8°C until testing within 24 hours. If plasma samples are not tested within 24 hours, store samples in plastic transfer tube and freeze at or below-20°C in non-frost free freezers for 2 weeks. Rejection Criteria: Any sample that is mislabeled; Any broken or damaged tubes. NOTE: * This test is approved for all states. * Performing LabAccu Reference Medical Laboratory |
