Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Non fasting specimen. Collect: Serum from Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Red Top Tube OR Plasma from K2-EDTA OR K3-EDTA Tube – 1 ml. Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum or plasma to a Standard Transport Tube. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Unacceptable Conditions: Specimen collected in the incorrect tubes; Specimen received with mismatched or no patient identifiers; Specimen received outside of stability requirements; Specimens subjected to repeated freeze/thaw cycles; Lipemic, hemolyzed or microbially contaminated samples may give poor results and should not be used. Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: Stable for 5 days at 20-25 °C; Refrigerated : 14 days at 2-8°C; Frozen: 12 months at -20°C (± 5 °C). Avoid repeating freeze/thaw cucles.
