Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: None Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) OR Red Top Tube – 0.5 ml serum. Specimen Preparation: Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection and transfer serum (form Red top tube) to a Standard Transport Tube. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 5 days; Frozen: 30 days. At ACCU: Frozen: 2 weeks. Unacceptable Conditions: Bacterially contaminated, hemolyzed, or lipemic samples. Mislabeled samples (unlabeled specimen or name discrepancy between specimen and request label).
