Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: None required. Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) – 0.5 ml Specimen Preparation: Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Serum free from hemolysis is the recommended specimens. Allow blood samples to clot (15 mins). Separate the serum from the cells by centrifuging for 10 minutes. Store serum at 2-8°C until analysis. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: AST in serum is stable for 1 day when stored at 18-25°C or for four weeks when stored at 2 – 8°C and 1 year or more at <-20°C.At Accu Reference: Refrigerated :7 days: Frozen”: 2 weeks Rejection Criteria: Any sample that is mislabeled; Any broken or damaged tubes.
