Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: No special preparation of the patient is required prior to specimen collection. Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) – 1 ml serum. Specimen Preparation: Serum samples should be obtained by venipuncture, allowed to clot naturally and the serum separated as soon as possible to prevent hemolysis. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated Unacceptable Conditions: Specimen received with mismatched or no patient identifiers; Specimen received outside of stability requirements; Microbially contaminated serum samples; Repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
