Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: None required Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) – 0.5 ml serum. Specimen Preparation: All human Serum Samples are considered to be potentially infective and are to be treated as such. Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: After separation from cells: Refrigerated at 2-8˚C.: 48 hours, Frozen: 2 weeks at or below -20˚C. NOTE: Separated serum should remain at 22˚C for no longer than eight hours. Caution: Serum samples are not to be repeatedly frozen and thawed, since this can cause analyte deterioration. They are to be thawed only once.
