Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: None required Collect: Serum Separator Tube (SST) – 0.5 ml serum. Specimen Preparation: All human Serum Samples are considered to be potentially infective and are to be treated as such. Follow all precaution for handling biological material. Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Allow blood to clot completely at room temperature (20-26°C) for 30-60 minutes, centrifuge for 10 to 15 min. Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: After separation of cells: Refrigerated: 7 days; Frozen 2 weeks NOTE: Separated serum should remain at 22˚C for no longer than eight hours. Rejection Criteria: Any sample that is mislabeled; Any broken or damaged tubes. Caution: Serum samples are not to be repeatedly frozen and thawed, since this can cause analyte deterioration.
