Specimen Required:Patient Preparation: Timing of specimen collection: Pre-dose (trough) draw – at steady state concentration. 

Collect: Plain red. Also acceptable:  EDTA (lavender-top) tube, sodium heparin (green-top) tube, or lithium heparin (green-top) tube – 1 ml serum or plasma.

Specimen Preparation: Separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer serum or plasma to a Standard Transport Tube.
Storage/Transport Temperature: Critical Frozen. Additional specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.
Unacceptable Conditions: Do not use gel barrier/serum separator tube (SST).
Whole blood. Gel separator tubes, light blue (citrate), or yellow (SPS or ACD solution). Hemolysis. Lipemia
Stability: (from collection to initiation) Room temperature: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 4 days; Frozen: 30 days
