Specimen Required:Patient Preparation: No special preparation of the patient is required prior to specimen collection. 

Collect: 
Preferred Specimen: Pink (K2EDTA) (pink top)- whole blood.
Alternative Specimen: Lavender (K2EDTA) – whole blood.

Specimen Preparation: Collect all blood samples using acceptable phlebotomy techniques.  Transport whole blood in original tube and send to the Laboratory.
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.
Stability: Refrigerated 5 days; Frozen: Unacceptable
Reject Criteria:  Received frozen; Serum Separator Tube (SST®) 

REMARK: If submitting with a CBC, HbA1c, or any other test requiring an EDTA (lavender-top) tube, please submit additional separate tube for this test.
